The philosophical positioning of a Vyrus is inherent in the product itself; just a look, and you will perceive its value!

THE GENESIS OF ALYEN

In the realm of luxury and innovation, a visionary project takes shape, marking a paradigm shift in motorcycle design. This is the story of Alyen, a brainchild of Ascanio Rodorigo, brought to life through the deft craftsmanship of Japanese designer Yutaka Igarashi. Over nine years, Alyen evolved through 57 distinct versions, a testament to its ambitious and intricate conception. This was no ordinary motorcycle; it was a leap into the future, a daring exploration of engineering and design. The heart of Alyen’s innovation is its unprecedented layout, featuring indirect steering and a double swingarm, a complex and challenging arrangement that pushes the boundaries of motorcycle engineering. Suspended structures and components interacted in a ballet of precision, creating not just a machine, but a futuristic creature, transcending the very concept of a motorcycle.
A REVOLUTIONARY STEERING MECHANISM
Alyen’s appearance is otherworldly. Its central body, large and threedimensional, starkly contrast with traditional motorcycle designs. The creature’s “head” is distinct, housing the Hydraulic Bearing Wired Steering System (HBWSS), a marvel of engineering by Vyrus. This system, featuring special cables connected to the handlebar and wheel, incorporates an aerospace tecnology, ensuring smooth and safe steering. The genius of the HBWSS lay in its redundancy; even if one component failed, its counterpart could seamlessly take over. The most captivating aspect of Alyen’s steering system is its “remote control” mechanism. No physical connection exist between the handlebar and the front wheel, a groundbreaking feature in motorcycle design. The motorcycle’s profile revealed vast empty spaces between these elements, a design choice that was both innovative and visually striking.
BRAKING POWER REDEFINED
The braking system of Alyen is where art meets science. Riders have two exceptional options. The first is a set of Carbonceramic 320mm discs, a choice for those who crave the cutting edge of braking technology. The second option is the Brembo T-drive 320 mm disc, a marvel derived from the world of Superbike racing, paired with the Brembo GP4 RR P4 32/36 Monobloc CNC caliper, a name that echoes through the halls of Motorsport. At the rear, a 245 mm Brembo brake disc is effortlessly tamed by the Brembo caliper SS P2 43 CNC. The crowning jewel of Alyen’s control system is the Brembo Radial RCS “Corsa Corta” brake and clutch pumps, fully adaptable to more demanding Riders. All of these mechanical parts are supported by the Anti Blocking System (ABS), ensuring that Alyen’s power and speed are always within the rider’s command, a harmony of man and machine that defies the limits of what was thought possible on two wheels. This system promises great stopping power, as certified in the homologation tests which classified Alyen the best in class.
POWERED BY A STRONG HEART
Forged from an exclusive partnership with Ducati, Alyen is not just a bike, but a symphony of speed, power, and cutting-edge technology. At its core, Alyen boasts the Superquadro 1299 engine, a masterpiece assembled by the skilled hands at Borgo Panigale. Limited to just 20 units, this powerhouse delivers almost 200 horsepower, catapulting Alyen into the realm of the extraordinary. The most powerful Café racer motorcycle ever produced. Every turn of Alyen’s throttle is a testament to its unrivaled personality. The electronically controlled “Ride by Wire” motorized throttle bodies ensure a seamless and responsive connection between rider and machine, a harmonious dialogue of speed and control. Alyen’s electronic systems are nothing short of revolutionary. Adhering to the stringent Euro 5 configuration, these systems orchestrate the bike’s vital functions, pushing its capabilities to new heights. An inertial platform sits at the helm of this technological marvel, expertly regulating power delivery, maintaining stability and making every ride a marvellous experience.
THE MASTERY OF VYRUS’ ADVANCED SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The Vyrus push-rod suspension system, now elevated to new heights by a groundbreaking device from a renowned Swedish manufacturer. Picture this: the TTX 40 MK “thru rod” shock absorber, a masterpiece that redefines the realm of motorcycle suspensions. The genius of this system lies in its departure from convention. Traditional shock absorbers rely on an air-tank, typically inflated to a robust 12 atmospheres, exerting force against the piston. But here, in this sleek, sophisticated design, such air-tank is totally absent. Instead, the TTX 40 MK works on equilibrium – the pressure is meticulously balanced on both sides of the hydraulic piston. This ingenious approach provide a perfect internal balance, allowing for a harmony that ensures a significant advantage on the tires response over the groundasperity
THE SYMPHONY OF THE VYRUS EXHAUST SYSTEM
From the engine emerge two primary collectors, each 60mm in diameter, akin to arteries of titanium. These collectors feed into a unique structure, a so-called compensation container. Crafted with CNC precision, the upper part of this container is a spectacle of design and functionality. An aluminium alloy cover, shaped entirely by milling, cradles the couplings of the two primary inlet manifolds. Inside, a labyrinth, ingeniously designed to fragment sound, as the gases advance inside. The lower lid of this container is a testament to craftsmanship. Made from a trapezoidal-shaped parallelepiped of stainless steel, just 1mm thick, it’s folded and welded by hand, for ensuring a precision uniform thickness. But the marvel doesn’t end there, emerging from this container are two tubes, not mere extensions, but the aesthetic soul of the exhaust. They stretch towards the saddle, sheathed in carbon protection. This carbon cloak is not just a shield; it’s a rear mudguard which gives it an attractive aesthetic.
COMPOSITE WHEELS
At the heart of Alyen’s allure are its wheels, crafted by ROTOBOX with a precision that borders on the obsessive. These aren’t just any wheels; they are masterpieces of composite materials, boasting an exceptional workmanship that sets them apart in the world of motorsports. The wheels, in true Vyrus style, feature a striking design of 10 spokes, each a mere 5 mm thick, a testament to the brand’s commitment to avantgarde aesthetics and uncompromising quality. But Alyen’s charm isn’t just skin deep. These wheels are marvels of technical prowess. The extraordinarily low weight and their unbelievable strength, hosting the formidable Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires. The front wheel, with its 3.5” channel, cradles a 120/70 ZR17 tire, while the rear, more robust with a 6” channel, accommodates a 200-60 ZR 17 tire. This combination promises a grip on the road that’s nothing short of extraordinary.

A FUSION OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY

The journey of Alyen was marked by an intricate dance of coordination between the Technical Office and the Vyrus Design Department. Their mission was to bring this groundbreaking concept to the road. What set Alyen apart was its approach to prototyping, a process revolutionized by Vyrus. Eschewing traditional methods, not a single gram of clay was modelled, as Alyen defied conventional design foundations. This was a challenge of engineering and creativity: how to arrange each component in a machine that bore no resemblance to others?
